Als ich davon das erste Male las, sagte mein Bauch, da stimmt was nicht und meine Frau lachte mal wieder.
Erst die regionale Begrenzung auf Norddeutschland, dann das suchen, dann die Feststellung: Gurken aus Spanien!!

Man findet sehr viele Berichte sei es SPON, Focus, tagesschau und auch in den alternativen Medien.
Was vermisse ich? Eine Art der Hinterfragung und Aufklärung. Denn beim Wort Spanien klingeln mir auch die Ohren. Dort findet was statt, was in den öffentlichen Medien erst spät und dann eher unter ferner liefen Einzug gehalten hat. Demonstrationen.

Was bedeutet die spanische Gurke nun? Ein weiterer Einbruch im wirtschaftliche sowieso schwachen Land. Dolchstoss von den ach so GUTEN?

WHO caves: Allows smallpox stockpiling for three more years

Once again, the World Health Assembly failed to set a deadline for the destruction of smallpox samples, delaying discussion for another three years. Though it still affirms the need for live sample destruction, the two-day “contentious debate” (repeated for the last 25 years) ended in a victory for bioweapons development in the U.S. and Russia.

“The retention of the existing stocks of smallpox virus are not required” to maintain and bolster current vaccine supplies, argues Dr. D. A. Henderson in Biosecurity and Bioterrorism: Biodefense Strategy, Practice, and Science. Through current technology, smallpox vaccines can be developed from the known genome. Live viruses are simply no longer needed.

Beirut residents exposed to high levels of air pollution

About 93 percent of the Lebanese capital’s residents are exposed to high levels of air pollution, a study presented in Beirut said Monday.

The study, which was carried out by researchers from the American University of Beirut, Saint Joseph University and Lebanon ‘s National Center for Scientific Research, also noted that the overall cost of air pollution to health exceeds 10 million U.S. dollars a year.

The study warned that air pollution levels in Beirut were higher than acceptable World Health Organization (WHO) standards and were subject to a yearly increase.

The study, which was conducted from 2008 to 2010, gathered air samples from monitoring stations all around Beirut and found out that the average annual concentration of the harmful air pollutant nitrogen dioxide, reached 58 micrograms per cubic meter in 2010.
